Offers in Compromise
When penalties and interest make full payment impossible, an Offer in Compromise can settle what you owe for less, and clear related liens if accepted.
Many taxpayers reach a point where the balance grows faster than they can pay. Liens block borrowing. The IRS Offer in Compromise program exists for taxpayers who qualify, but the Service does not grant these lightly.
- Qualify analysis before you file
- Financial disclosure prepared for IRS scrutiny
- Negotiation aimed at an amount you can actually pay
Straight advice comes first: whether you can qualify, what documentation the IRS will demand, and whether another path (such as penalty relief or installment terms) fits better. Then the filing and negotiation have to be handled with care.
We owed more in back taxes and penalties than we could possibly pay back. Cliff jumped right in and in a relatively short time we had a deal with the IRS to settle for an amount we could handle.
